I am humbled and honored to have been selected to receive my first blogging recognition. I was nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award by Chaos in Mommyhood.

The Blogger Recognition Award is given to bloggers by other bloggers to show appreciation for all the hard work they have put into making their blog meaningful to others. Starting a blog, putting the time and effort into the posts, and making sure it’s publicized on social media takes a lot of time and effort. Taking your thoughts and feelings and putting them on display can be a scary thing to do!

I would like to thank Nina at Chaos in Mommyhood for nominating my blog for this recognition. I am honored to have be considered. If you haven’t had a chance to check out her blog yet, you can do that by CLICKING HERE. Her blog is a great source of information for tips on raising kids, recipes, ways to take care of yourself as a mom, and other things, including how she started her blog! Nina – It’s been a true pleasure getting to know you these past few months through our mommy blogging adventures!

How/Why I Started Blogging

I thought about starting my blog for many many months before I actually took to the computer to start writing. I was already so busy with a full time job, and a very active family that I didn’t feel that I would have time. I also knew that I would have to spend some money to do it, and didn’t really think that it would be worth the investment. About 4 months ago, I came across a Facebook Ad on how to start a money making blog and I thought, ‘You can make money with a blog? Who knew?!’ I rationalized that if I could make the money back that I put into the blog, then it would be worth it to put my thoughts down.

But then, who would really want to read my thoughts? Wasn’t that kind of pretentious of me think that I have something valuable to say? As I started to research blogging and the community of bloggers (especially mom-bloggers) I realized that we all have something valuable to say. We all say it in a different way and have our own opinions. It’s these view points and opinions that ultimately (hopefully) help someone else.

So why did I start blogging? To be of service to others. Even if it helps just one mom to know that they are not alone; to know that they are a great mom, even if they aren’t ‘perfect’; to know that we ALL have been there, and IT’s OK! Building a network of support for mom’s is why I started my blog!

My Advice for New Bloggers

You have value. It’s simple advice but something that took me a while to learn. It’s OK if someone blogs about the same thing you are blogging about. We all have different experiences and it your personal experience and thoughts that give value to the reader.

Be active on social media. When I started blogging I really had no idea that I would become a social media expert! Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, Twitter, YouTube; you have to be active in all social media outlets to advertise yourself.

Never stop learning. This not only pertains to blogging, but in my opinion, in life as well! Keep learning new ways to do things. Try new programs. Learn new ways to do things, especially if they will make you more efficient. And connect with your blogging community and learn from your peers. We have an AMAZING community of bloggers at our fingertips (literally). You just have to get involved!
