As busy moms, we’re constantly being pulled in different directions, from soccer practices to dance classes to helping out at school. We’re so busy taking care of others that we often forget we need to take a moment and take care of ourselves.

Over time, I’ve found a few ways to accomplish this, including dance classes and weekly walks with friends. Recently, I found a way to have some “me” time and tap into my artistic side with Paint Nite.

When I first began to hear about Paint Nite, I never considered it as something that I would do. I am not an artistic person and have never really been able to paint. As a matter of fact, the last time I painted it was probably when my kids were little. I’m sure it was paint-by-numbers; that was difficult enough for me!

I continued to see social media posts about Paint Nite and the photos intrigued me. The people in the photos seemed to be having a great time and there was always a glass of wine! A few months ago, a friend of mine (who is equally as art-challenged) went to Paint Nite and created a beautiful painting. I decided that it was time to put my apprehension behind me and just try it!

As I did some more research about what to expect, I discovered that Paint Nite partners with local organizations to help raise money, and I knew this was a great organization to get to know.

Paint Nite Experience

My entire Paint Nite experience was amazing! My friend and I went early and grabbed dinner and a drink before the event started. Paint Nite events are held on a regular basis at local bars and restaurants, so it’s easy to make an evening of it. We were also one of the first pairs to check in and pick our seats. We chose seats right in front of the instructor, but because the class size was perfect, there wasn’t a bad seat in the house!

Our host and local artist, Juliana, was wonderful! She clearly explained what we needed to do and why. She showed us how making changes in our brush strokes would affect our paintings. The way Juliana walked through the steps made painting seem so simple.

Juliana also showed us ways that we could ‘redo’ parts of our painting. In many of the steps, she provided us examples of how to paint over what we’d already painted if we wanted to get a different look. This was reassuring to me. It removed my fear of making a mistake.

Because Paint Nite is held at a local restaurant, drinks are served! The waitress came into the area room to take our orders and brought our drinks directly to us. Imagine, sitting in a room with other adults (no kids), drinking a glass of wine and spending 2-hours not thinking about anything else other than the painting in front of you. It’s a perfect Mom self-care night!

Paint Nite Fundraisers

While I’ve only attended a regular event with Paint Nite, as I mentioned before they also partner with organizations to help raise funds. Being able to combine the ideal self-care night while supporting a non-profit organization seems like an ideal night out!

Paint Nite Fundraisers are a great way for moms to raise funds for schools, sports teams and local non-profit organizations. Galas can be expensive and time consuming to plan. Bake sales are a lot of work and, quite frankly, usually only raise a small amount of funds. But Paint Nite Fundraisers are easy to plan and an event that moms love to attend!

Paint Nite

Setting up a Paint Nite Fundraiser is easy. Simply choose a date, location and painting, and let Paint Nite do the rest. All supplies are provided by Paint Nite for your event and they’ll even help you get the word out.

How much can you raise with a Paint Nite Fundraiser? Paint Nite will donate $15 of every ticket sold to your designated organization. That can be your son’s baseball organization, your daughter’s soccer team or your children’s school. Typical events will raise around $600!

Paint Nite

In addition to the funds you raise in ticket sales for your event, Paint Nite wants to match your efforts! Every organization that books a Paint Nite Fundraiser in the months of February and March (date booked, not the date of the event) will be automatically entered to win one of the three fund-matching prizes, up to $1000. Your organization could essentially double funds raised.

As mentioned above, Juliana was an amazing host. She was so patient and walked us through each step of the painting. Check out the progression of my painting below:
